The Belfast City Airport Fire and Rescue team is ready to bring the heat at this year’s Moy Park Belfast City Marathon on Sunday 4th May 2025! This incredible group of first responders is trading in their firefighting gear for running shoes, all to raise much-needed funds for their charity partner, Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.

The team will consist of 10 runners – 5 taking part in the team relay and the other 5 are completing the full 26.2 miles of the marathon. They’re not just racing to the finish line—they’re racing to make a difference, supporting a life-saving service that provides rapid medical care across the country to patients in need every single day. With every mile they run, they’ll be making a real difference in the community.

Neil Mercer, Crew Commander at Belfast City Airport’s Fire and Rescue Service, said:

“As a team rooted in the heart of Belfast, supporting Air Ambulance Northern Ireland is a natural fit for us and being involved in the Moy Park Belfast City Marathon gives us a chance to give back, raise awareness, and make a tangible difference.”

“We are incredibly proud to partner with such a vital charity and help bring attention to the life-saving work that it does every single day.”

Grace Williams said; ‘We’re absolutely thrilled that the Belfast City Airport Fire and Rescue Service is taking on the Moy Park Belfast City Marathon to support Air Ambulance Northern Ireland! We are thoroughly enjoying working with the entire team at Belfast City Airport – Their enthusiasm and dedication to Air Ambulance NI is truly inspiring.

We’d love to take this opportunity to encourage anyone still picking their charity to please consider running for their local Air Ambulance and joining us on this incredible journey. All funds raised will help people in your community for whom the worst has happened, meaning they require pre-hospital critical care at scene.  Every day the medical team are needed on average twice per day to help people like Hannah Babe, who needed the air ambulance after she was involved in a Road Traffic Collision in 2020. Thankfully she has made a great recovery and is now a volunteer the charity. #MilesForMissions

As this is the last year as the official charity partner for Moy Park Belfast City Marathon, we want to make it the best one yet! Every step, every donation, makes a real difference in saving lives—let’s keep the momentum going and make this a marathon to remember!’
