The Spar Omagh Half Marathon committee have made a second donation to the Air Ambulance NI Charity following the cancellation of their 2021 event. 313 very generous people from a mix of the Half Marathon, Half Marathon Walk and the 5K donated their entry fee from the virtual 2020 event to Air Ambulance NI. This year’s donation of £5,860 and 2020’s donation of £8,081 is just shy of an incredible overall total of £14,000!

Area Fundraising Manager, Damien McAnespie commented “On behalf of the Air Ambulance NI Charity, I want to again sincerely thank the committee of the Spar Omagh Half Marathon and its participants for their fantastic support. Their two donations to us over the last 12 months will keep our helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) operating across the region for nearly three days, saving up to on average six people’s lives, brains or limbs. We are approaching our fourth year in operation and in that time, our HEMS team have been tasked to the Fermanagh and Omagh council area 164 times. At an operational cost of £5,500 per day, we simply could not fly without this support so thank you!”
