As the longest day of the year approaches, so does the ‘Summer Solstice –Stress Less Experience’ organised by Try the Alternative.  This two week programme aims to help people reduce stress and focus on their health and wellbeing; whilst raising vital funds for charities including PIPS Hope and Support, Air Ambulance NI, Birthwise and social enterprise Centred Soul.

Try the Alternative Founder, Joanne Callan said “I am hoping this program is a win, win for everyone that takes parts.  It is an opportunity to support the work of four amazing organisations that are doing remarkable work to help people and we all know that supporting others helps us to feel good.

The Stress Less Experience will provide the opportunity for individuals to improve their own health and well being.  It is open to everyone regardless of gender or age and I would encourage you to share it with your friends and family members. Sometimes you never truly know the stress people are feeling and this programme may help them to find ways to cope and ultimately take time to think about their own wellbeing.  We all know someone who may benefit from the programme, a mother, father, husband, wife, brother, sister, friend or other.  Wellbeing is important to everyone!”

Businesses are also encouraged to take part as it is a way of pro actively supporting the health and well being of team members with group discounts available for businesses, sports teams and other organisations. The programme can also be purchased as a gift for someone to say you care.

For many, the Summer Solstice is about welcoming the summer, the season of light, happiness and peace.  And this programme celebrates this philosophy. Often it can be hard to shut off from day-to-day noise we experience in our lives and this two week experience offers participants the chance to take some time out for themselves.

Joanne concluded: “During the current Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen a rise in the number of people feeling emotions they have never experienced before whether that is anxiety, stress or depression.  Many people are also taking care of others and not taking time out to care for themselves.  That is why we want to use this programme to support the fantastic charities selected, but also highlight the importance of our health and well being.”
