Secure communications company Salt Communications based in Belfast, Northern Ireland have set out to do the 5K a day challenge in the month of September in aid of local life-saving charity Air Ambulance NI.

The Air Ambulance NI, is a charity in Northern Ireland that works in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), to provide the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for the region.

Serious or life-threatening situations can happen to anyone at any time and on average, every single day in Northern Ireland, two individuals find themselves in critical needs of AANI. The charity’s operational helicopter carries a crew consisting of a pilot, doctor and paramedic, 365 days a year operating for twelve hours every day. They attend some of the most traumatic medical incidents across the province and are dedicated to delivering the very best possible pre-hospital critical care, both on scene and whilst being transferred the patient to the most appropriate hospital for their specific injuries.

“We are so lucky to have this fantastic critical service here in Northern Ireland, it is truly something not to be taken for granted. The team at Salt Communications are looking forward to get moving more in the month of September, as well as contributing to something that helps local people every day,” said Senior Marketing Executive Nicole Allen.

Grace Williams, Area Fundraising Manager said

The team at Salt Communications are a real inspiration, organising this 5k a day challenge throughout September in support for their local Air Ambulance. We are just so delighted to be working with them on this fundraising event.

As a service we rely heavily on charitable donations to keep the medical team in the air, delivering critical care to patients who have suffered trauma throughout Northern Ireland – without continued support, the team simply couldn’t fly. Every single penny counts. With a daily fundraising need of £5,500, we are so grateful to Nicole and her team for this wonderful opportunity. I would like to encourage everyone to support their fundraising event throughout September!”
