Demonstrating unwavering dedication to supporting the critical air ambulance service, staff at Newry Bus Depot have presented a further £530 to Air Ambulance NI.
As part of a partnership between Air Ambulance NI and Translink, the staff have been fundraising for this essential emergency service charity for over two years. Their recent fundraising efforts included an international cuisine day, where staff shared and sampled dishes from various cultures, and a staff BBQ, showcasing their enthusiasm and teamwork in supporting the charity.
The staff at Newry Bus Depot are frequently reminded of the necessity of the air ambulance service, often hearing the helicopter attending to serious accidents within the Newry area and beyond.
Amy Henshaw, Area Fundraising Manager for Air Ambulance NI, expressed her gratitude: “We are forever thankful to everyone at the local Newry depot for their ongoing support. Over the last two years, they have contributed £3,439 as part of a charity partnership between Air Ambulance NI and Translink. Public support and support from businesses is critical to sustaining this life-saving service, and the unwavering commitment of Translink staff is deeply appreciated.”
Alongside their partners the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, the air ambulance plays a pivotal role in Northern Ireland, capable of reaching any part of the province within an impressive 25 minutes from its airbase in Lisburn. Tasked on average twice daily and operating at a cost of £6,850 every day, the charity relies heavily on local support. As the service approaches its seventh anniversary since their first tasking on 22nd July 2017, the charity encourages everyone to get involved in supporting this vital service, whether by participating in an Air Ambulance NI event, organising your own fundraising event, or simply making a regular donation.
