Air Ambulance Northern Ireland were delighted to recently visit Hilltown Farmers Attested Sales in Co. Down to receive a very welcomed donation. Area Fundraising Manager for the charity, Amy Henshaw met with John Farnon and Roisin Murnion from the saleyard to receive an incredible cheque for £4,200. Proceeds were raised from their Annual Christmas Show & Sale, which was held on 14th November, which included a charity auction. An outstanding £8400 was raised collectively, with proceeds being spilt between Air Ambulance NI and Southern Area Hospice Services.

The management and staff of Hilltown Saleyard would like to thank everyone who made their Annual Christmas Show and Sale a success, including the sponsors, exhibitors, buyers and spectators whom without, the event would not have been as successful.

Amy Henshaw from the charity had commented: ‘We are extremely grateful to Hilltown Farmers Attested Sales for including their local air ambulance in their latest Christmas Show & Sale. The air ambulance is tasked twice a day (on average) to a critically ill or injured person, whether that is as a result of a serious road traffic collision, workplace accident, sports leisure incident, medical emergency or a serious farming accident.

The air ambulance operates seven days a week for 12 hours per day and can reach anywhere in Northern Ireland in approximately twenty-five minutes. The charity aspires to raise £6,850 a day to keep the helicopter flying to some of the sickest patients across the province. With the support of vital funds like these, it’s a service that is there, 365 days of the year for every one of us, we sincerely thank-you.’
