Railway Karting’s first family fun day was a massive success for all and has raised over £5,000 for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, funding one day of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS).

Ryan McGuckin from Railway Karting said, “We were really pleased that the whole community supported by attending, having fun and making sizeable donations.  The total raised included donations as well as net proceeds from the day.  We know that this will potentially help two patients when the worst has happened by bringing the hospital by helicopter.  It was a lot of work but it feels really good to have contributed to this lifesaving charity.”

The charity Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, provides the HEMS for Northern Ireland.  Breige Mulholland from Air Ambulance NI said, “In the local council area, the air ambulance has been needed on 220 occasions in the past 4 years.  That’s an average of once a week.  Each call out requires support from the local community in fundraising so we are all very grateful to Ryan and all who contributed.  Each day our charity needs to raise approximately £5,500 in fundraising, so all support is welcome.”
