Ballycastle Golf Club is proud to announce a successful fundraising effort in support of Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, during the recent Captain’s Year.
During their tenure as Captains, Gerard Norwood and Bernie Hegarty selected Air Ambulance NI as their chosen charity. This decision reflected their deep appreciation for the vital and irreplaceable role the service plays in delivering rapid, emergency medical care directly to communities across Northern Ireland.
At the conclusion of their Captain’s Year, Gerard Norwood and Bernie Hegarty were delighted to present a cheque for £5,279.91 to Air Ambulance NI. The charity delivers the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. This life-saving service that is tasked on average twice per day, requires £8,200 each day in fundraising. Support from local communities and sports organisations such as this un-fore-gettable initiative is vital to keep the Air Ambulance flying.
The substantial amount was generated through a variety of fundraising activities held throughout the year, made possible by the enthusiasm and generosity of club members and supporters.
Ballycastle Golf Club extends its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to this outstanding achievement. The funds raised will directly support Air Ambulance NI in continuing its essential operations, helping to save lives and provide critical care when it is needed most.
The HEMS operates 365 days a year and can reach anywhere in Northern Ireland in under 25 minutes, bringing advanced medical care directly to the scene of serious incidents.
