On the 17th June 2020, Dromore lady, Nellie Cunningham celebrated her milestone birthday by supporting her local charity, Air Ambulance NI.

By asking for donations to the charity on her birthday instead of gifts Mrs Cunningham was able to donate a fantastic £800 to the charity. This vital donation will be used by Air Ambulance NI towards the cost of running the life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) which takes £2m a year to remain operational.

Mrs Cunningham’s daughter Beth Megarry explained why her mother chose to support Air Ambulance NI, “When I asked mum why she picked Air Ambulance NI she answered that it benefitted everybody and that no one could tell when they would need it”

Colleen Milligan, Fundraising Manager for the charity said, “It gave our team such a lift to hear about Nellies fundraising.  Having spoken with her daughter, Beth, it seems she is an inspirational lady who is right at the very heart of her family.  As a service we rely heavily on charitable donations to keep the medical team in the air, delivering critical care to patients who have suffered trauma throughout Northern Ireland. With the donation raised through Mrs Cunningham’s birthday fundraiser, she has really done her bit to help support this life-saving service. We want to say a huge thank you to Nellie and all her family.”
