Joseph and Dolores Morgan from Leitrim County Down, recently made a presentation to the Air Ambulance NI Charity in acknowledgment of the excellent service Joseph received following an accident he had in February of this year. Joseph was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital and commented on the swift and professional service he received from the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) in his time of need.
In appreciation for this service the Morgan family held a fundraising coffee morning at Liatroim Fontenoys GAC club rooms. The local coffee morning was very well attended and donations continued to be made after the event. Joseph and Dolores visited the charity’s airbase at the beginning of June to present the cheque which will help the medical team continue to deliver emergency pre-hospital care.
Amy Henshaw, Fundraising Manager said: “We would like to thank the Morgan family for hosting this tremendous coffee morning and the local community who attended and supported the event. It was a pleasure to welcome Joseph and Dolores to our base where they met HEMS paramedic Mike Patton, expressed their gratitude, and presented a remarkable cheque for £4,380 to the charity. This generous donation will help the medical team deliver critical medical interventions to critically ill people when time is of the essence. Thank you for your meaningful support.”
Air Ambulance NI works in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service to provide the HEMS which plays an important role in emergency care in Northern Ireland. The Air Ambulance is capable of reaching any part of the province within an impressive 25 minutes from its airbase in Lisburn.
Averaging two missions a day, the medical team has responded to over 4,700 incidents since the inception of the service in July 2017. In critical situations, every minute counts, and community support is essential to continue providing life-saving interventions at the scene. The charity needs to raise £6,850 in fundraising every day to remain a beacon of hope for the critically ill and injured. Your support is crucial to sustain this vital service.
