His family said, “When dad passed away following his accident, it only felt right that we gave something back to the charity as a sign of our gratitude so we requested donations in-lieu of flowers for his funeral which raised £2000, we couldn’t believe it.”
Two months after his passing, members of the McAnespie family got the opportunity to visit to the air ambulance base and meet members of the charity and the HEMS teams, including paramedic Mike Patton who was on duty the day of Harry’s accident.

On the lead-up to his first anniversary, the McAnespie family then held an in-memory Irish Ceili dancing fundraising night and raffle in their local community hall in Aughnacloy in aid of Air Ambulance NI, raising over £9200.
The McAnespie family said, “It was a wonderful night and the place was packed. Dad was an avid ceili dancer so there were people, young and old, from all over Tyrone, Monaghan, Armagh and Derry who knew him. We are very grateful for everyone’s charitable donations – whether it was made online or on the night – and we know that it will go towards helping someone else in need of the air ambulance.”
