The service brings urgent medical assistance to anywhere in the province, operating 7 days a week for 12 hours per day. The HEMS team attend patients who are seriously ill or injured, bringing emergency pre-hospital care direct to the casualty with the aim of saving lives, brains and limbs. The aircraft can reach anywhere in Northern Ireland in approximately twenty-five minutes.
It currently costs £3m in fundraising, additional to the contribution from Department of Health for the clinical team, to operate our life-saving service. When the worst happens, Air Ambulance NI is there for every one of us, and with your support we can continue for generations to come.
Thanks to the incredible generosity and support from the public, we continue to be there when it matters most. It’s not just our medics saving lives – it’s every supporter that makes this service possible.
Our Memorandum of Understanding enables 15 doctors and 9 paramedics funded by NIAS to fly on board our aircraft 7 days per week.
This enables the provision of advanced clinical interventions, treatments, and care to patients before reaching the hospital. NIAS has responsibility for all aspects of clinical governance including the provision of a rapid response vehicle at the base.
In partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, we cover 100% of Northern Ireland, arriving on scene within 25 minutes. To make this possible, we need to raise £3 million a year.
