The Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) Clinical and Operational Lead are responsible for overseeing clinical standards, managing clinical staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. In addition, they focus on the ongoing development and training to maintain excellence in critical pre-hospital care.

Our highly skilled HEMS team brings together experienced emergency medicine and anaesthetic doctors who work alongside specially trained advanced paramedics, who operate in the aircraft and rapid response vehicle, providing pre-hospital critical care across Northern Ireland. The advanced Paramedics also dispatch the medical team from the airdesk in NIAS Control.
Our pilots and engineer, kindly provided by Sloane Helicopters, bring extensive experience from across the UK— they play a vital role within the team, ensuring the safe, efficient delivery of the medical team directly to scene, the transportation of patients and the continuous maintenance and readiness of the aircraft to deliver critical care wherever it is needed.
