Lift Off Together
A long held ambition for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland has been to own its primary helicopter. We are proud to announce the purchase of a new AW109SP, a major milestone in Air Ambulance NI’s journey. The new aircraft has been procured through Sloane Helicopters and manufactured by Leonardo Helicopters. It will carry the registration G-HMNI and is scheduled to become Air Ambulance NI’s primary helicopter from late summer 2026.

In celebration of the new Air Ambulance that will serve the communities of Northern Ireland, we are launching Lift Off Together.

Lift Off Together, gives you the opportunity to have your name, or that of someone special, featured on the underside of the new aircraft for a donation of £200.  With limited space available, this is a rare chance to be part of the charity’s next chapter and help Air Ambulance NI’s new aircraft to ‘lift off together’.

Every mission we fly is made possible through the generosity of our supporters across Northern Ireland. The names displayed on our new aircraft, through the Lift Off Together campaign, will serve as a lasting reminder of the individuals, families and communities we are privileged to help during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Common Questions
How will the names be displayed on the helicopter?

All names will be printed on the undercarriage of the helicopter in a standardised size and font. Due to the size capacity and need for uniformity, each name will be limited to a maximum of 30 characters.

Can I buy a name in memory of a loved one?

Yes. You can make a dedication in memory of your loved one. There is an option on our website to tell us if the name you are submitting is in memory. This is a special way to commemorate the life of a loved one whether they were connected to Air Ambulance NI or you simply want to celebrate their life in a poignant way that will give hope to families across the province.

We are a school/sports club/company, can we donate to the campaign and have our organisational name on the helicopter?

No, unfortunately donations of this nature from a company, club or school would be subject to VAT. For that reason, this campaign has been created to celebrate the people that form the heart of our province and is only open to individual or family names.

Will I get the chance to see my name on the helicopter?

Once Air Ambulance NI has received delivery of the new aircraft, it will need to be branded and fitted with all the medical equipment required for providing critical pre-hospital care. Once the first 100 names have been sold, they will be added to the undercarriage of the helicopter. We will be able to share a digital image of the names once in place.

How long will my name be displayed on the new helicopter for?

Each name will be displayed on the undercarriage of the new helicopter for 3 years.

Can a previous donation I made to Air Ambulance NI be used for this campaign?

Thanks to the generosity of people like you, this life-saving service has been operating for almost nine years, responding to an average of two people every day. Donations made over that time have helped the medical team reach critically ill and injured patients, delivering advanced pre-hospital emergency care that can mean the difference between life and death. We are incredibly grateful for these kind contributions, which bring hope in what is often someone’s darkest hour.

You will appreciate, donations made previously cannot now be reallocated.

Our new helicopter represents a long-term commitment to the people of Northern Ireland and only donations made through the Lift Off Together campaign page can be associated with names that will appear on the new aircraft.
