North Louth Macra Drives Community Support
Air Ambulance Northern Ireland has expressed its sincere appreciation to North Louth Macra following a recent vehicle run to rasie vital funds.

The event brought together members of the local community and vehicle enthusiasts for a memorable day, with a wide variety of vehicles taking part, from tractors and lorries to vintage cars. As the club’s first major event since reforming, the run marked a significant milestone for North Louth Macra and demonstrated the strong support behind its return.

Participants and supporters gathered at The Forge Bar in Forkhill, where the event began and concluded, with refreshments and a raffle helping to further boost the total raised. Air Ambulance NI also extended thanks to The Forge Bar and Murphy’s Shop for their warm hospitality and support throughout the day.

Cayla Wehrly from North Louth Macra said:
“As a newly re-established club, we wanted our first big event to really bring the community together while supporting a cause that makes a real difference. We were blown away by the turnout and generosity on the day. Air Ambulance Northern Ireland provides a vital service across our area, so we’re incredibly proud to support them through this fundraiser.”

The incredible £4,500 raised through this event will help Air Ambulance Northern Ireland continue to deliver its critical pre-hospital emergency care service, responding to serious incidents across the region when every second matters.

Bébhionn Hardy, Community Fundraising Coordinator at Air Ambulance NI, added:
“We are extremely grateful to North Louth Macra for their outstanding efforts and to everyone who took part in or supported the vehicle run.. Support like this plays a vital role in helping us remain operational and ready to respond when we’re needed most.”

The charity Air Ambulance NI, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, provides the HEMS for Northern Ireland.  The service brings urgent medical assistance to anywhere in the province, operating seven days a week for 12 hours per day. The HEMS team attend patients who are seriously ill or injured, bringing emergency pre-hospital care direct to the casualty with the aim of saving lives, brains and limbs.  The aircraft can reach anywhere in the province within twenty-five minutes.

On average the medical team are called upon twice every day, whether that to a serious road traffic collision, farm or workplace accident, sport and leisure incident or a serious medical emergency.

As a local charity, Air Ambulance NI aspires to raise £3 million each year to maintain and sustain this service so public donations such as this one are crucial.
